About the Role
Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its Complex Occupational Therapy Team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment, supporting young adults and individuals with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and children requiring specialist occupational therapy interventions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy services, promoting independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for service users and their carers.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for adults, children, young adults, and carers.
- Apply strengths-based practice principles to promote independence, choice, and control.
- Develop and implement effective intervention plans and recommendations.
- Work in line with relevant legislation, professional standards, and local authority policies.
- Complete safeguarding duties to protect children and adults with care and support needs.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and reports.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working within social care settings.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy assessments, equipment, adaptations, and rehabilitation.
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, mental health needs, young adults, and children.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and practice experience.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working model with 2 days per week in the office.
- Standard hours: 08:45 to 17:15.
- 37 hours per week.

- This vacancy is to provide cover for a vacant post.

- The role sits within Walsall Council's Adult Social Care & Health Directorate and the Complex OT Team.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
