Across Vertas Group, our network of Mental Health First Aiders provides colleagues with a confidential and compassionate first point of support when they’re experiencing a difficult time.
That network has recently grown, with 10 more colleagues completing Mental Health First Aider training and joining Mental Health First Aiders already working across our teams and services.
Someone to talk to
Mental Health First Aiders are trained to listen without judgement, provide initial support and help colleagues understand where they can access further help if they need it.
They aren’t there to diagnose or provide professional treatment. Instead, they offer something equally important: a trusted colleague who can listen, provide reassurance and help someone take the next step towards appropriate support.
Conversations with our Mental Health First Aiders are confidential, helping create a space where colleagues can talk openly about how they’re feeling.
By continuing to grow the network, we're making that support more accessible to colleagues across Vertas Group.
Meet some of the people behind the support
Our Mental Health First Aiders come from different roles and areas of Vertas Group, but they share a commitment to supporting the people around them.
We caught up with three of our newly trained Mental Health First Aiders to find out why they wanted to get involved:
Jane Bingley, Production Supervisor at VNL
Adam Buffery, Head of Oakpark Security
Louise Gilmour, Senior Account Manager at VNL

Wellbeing at work
Supporting colleague wellbeing is an important part of creating a workplace where people feel valued and supported.
Growing our Mental Health First Aider network is one part of that – alongside the wider wellbeing support and resources available to colleagues across Vertas Group.
Because whatever your role or wherever you work, knowing there’s someone you can talk to matters.
